Located in the historic Union Depot, circa 1903, the museum includes an extensive archive collection and is the repository for historic photographs in the community. Museum volunteers and staff are available to assist with research including genealogy questions. The building was restored in 2002. Operated by the Elgin Historical Association, the museum is open from 2:00 to 5:00 pm Tuesday through Saturday. Group tours are available by appointment. The museum has both rotating exhibits and permanent exhibits on the development of Elgin and an Area Veterans Display in the old ticket office starting with area Veterans from the Texas Revolution.

Lake Bastrop South Shore Park Trail is a 2.5 mile loop trail located near Bastrop and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use this trail.

This building, the Old Rock Saloon, built by San Jacinto Veteran John Dempsey Nash, is the oldest building in McDade and serves as the McDade Historical Museum. The building itself carries a bit of history. The saloon was the location of the infamous Olive brothers' confrontation with the Yegura gang of rustlers. The stone saloon also played a role in the multiple hanging of suspected outlaws by vigilantes in what is now called the "McDade Christmas Massacre of 1883."

The ranch has a main loop that is about 26 miles total and you'll encounter a wide variety of trails, from the straightforward jeep trails to ledges, short climbs, twists through the trees, bunny hops over logs and more. And Fat Chuck is one heck of a climb!
They are located 30 miles east of Austin and 8 miles west of Bastrop in the heart of Central Texas. The ranch has a bunkhouse, two outside arenas, horse boarding paddocks, a pavilion, two separate 6 mile trails on opposites sides of the ranch for horseback riding, dirt biking or just good ole fashion running on foot. The bunkhouse is available for rent year round. The arenas are available for just about any event involving horses. The horse trails are available for trail rides of all sizes and riding skills

Scream Hollow Wicked Halloween Park opened September 18, 2015 with Friday through Sunday dates until November 1.
