Earth Paints & Pigments 2022

December 11

December 11 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

9:00am - 4:00pm

Come explore art and nature with Earth Native School in central Texas. This class will explore the wonderful bounty of paints and pigments that can be made from natural materials that we find on the landscape.

Ancient and modern cultures have utilized natural paints and dyes for thousands of years! Natural paints and pigments can be extracted from rocks, clays, plants, and minerals. Awesome colors and resources are plentiful on site.

In this class you’ll spend time exploring the beautiful edges of Cedar Creek gathering clay and rocks to make natural pigments, you’ll then crush them into fine powders, and add binders to make paints for use in organic artistry.

You will also learn how to make your own paintbrushes from local plants. No natural talent of artistry is needed.
