The 23rd annual Juneteenth Festival & Grand Parade will be held June 10-11 at the Veteran’s Park on Depot Street in Elgin, Texas. The two-day event includes live bands and Gospel group, a Friday night street dance, downtown parade, food and crafts.

The Juneteenth Sesquicentennial Photo Contest calls for entries of children age 6-18 for contest to be in the Royal Court and win prizes, trophies and social media opportunities.

FRIDAY

• 8 p.m. to midnight – Street Dance on Depot Street featuring DJ Darshe Resse with food vendors in Veterans Park serving up traditional festival fare and Texas BBQ.

SATURDAY

• 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. Grand Parade & Festival. Line-up for the parade will start at 8 a.m. from Booker T. Washington Elementary School and, at 10 a.m., parades through Historic Downtown Elgin. After the parade, come down to Veterans’ Park downtown for the Juneteenth festivities! Meet the Royal Court, let the kids enjoy the fun activities and celebrate with song, food and fellowship throughout the day.
