“I don’t see how a pumpkin patch could be more sincere than this one.”

— It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown

Enjoy a fun-filled day with your family at one of the amazing pumpkin patches and festivals around Bastrop County. The beautiful venues range from working farms to Christmas tree farms to city streets to eco-friendly spots. We’ll tell you about five family-friendly Fall venues and an “all-things-pumpkin” evening festival on Saturday, October 2nd if you’ll remember your close-toed shoes and sunscreen!

The first three venues are open on Saturdays and Sundays in October.

Barton Hill FarmS

Barton Hill Farms, titled “most scenic pumpkin patch in Texas,” is hosting their 10th annual Fall Festival on their 118-acre farm on the banks of the Colorado River. Known for Central Texas’ largest corn maze, this year’s field is giving a nod to Elon Musk’s Space X and Tesla. Lots of sun, lots of space, and lots of activities. Food and drink are available onsite. Newly added cabanas can be rented.

WHISPERING PINES BASTROP

New to the festival circuit is Whispering Pines Bastrop (a family farm located between Bastrop and Smithville) with their Harvest Festival 2021, running every weekend through October. They are focusing on their pumpkin patch, hayride and kids activities. Food and drinks will be available. Kids 12 and younger get in free.

COMMUNITY GARDENS

The Pumpkin Patch at Community Gardens will be held outdoors at this venue just west of Bastrop. Along with their pumpkin patch, they will have train rides, pumpkin painting, kid’s activities and more. The eco-friendly partnerships of the Community Gardens include a restaurant, a coffee shop, organic foods and other vendors inside for an extra bonus on the trip.

Two Christmas Tree farms are again hosting their annual festivals every day in October.

Evergreen Farms

Join the Pumpkin Hunt with a free wagon ride into the Christmas tree fields to seek out the mini pumpkins hidden among the pines. Along with the pumpkin patch, the Hunt includes a train ride, bounce track, mazes, a kid’s zip line, and the laugh out loud pumpkin launcher. Discount for active military and first responders.

Elgin Christmas Tree Farm

Serving the region for 35 years,  brings back its corn maze, pumpkin photo ops, the train ride and hayrides, along with animals to visit and rubber duck races. They also have a picnic area so families can bring their own food.

THE PUMPKIN CARVING FESTIVAL – SATURDAY, OCTOBER 12, 2021

With a motto of “All Things Pumpkin,” this festival is sure to be a hit with the families. This only runs for one evening on Saturday, Oct. 2, at the Elgin Recreation Center, but it includes both carving and painting pumpkins with lawn games and music. Registration required to make sure there are enough pumpkins to go around.

We don’t know how any patch could be more sincere either, Charlie Brown. Enjoy and explore Bastrop County!
