Carne Lenta (Austin’s taco mini-chain Taco Flats) is Smithville, Texas’ newest eatery with indoor and outdoor seating. At the former Micklethwait location downtown, Carne Lenta, which is Spanish for “slow meat,” serves slow-cook birria, barbacoa, carnitas, and picadillo, available by-the-pound and in tacos. The restaurant uses local cows, and Tony Olvera, who also worked the overnight pits at the locaiton, butchers everything in-house. The tortillas are homemade as well.
Drinks include boutique beers for a donation, which will be sent to rotating charities.
