Held every 4th Saturday, the Big Sit in Bastrop County, Texas is back-to-nature bird watching circle to see how many birds can be spotted or heard without leaving the circle. It’s great for beginners because more experienced folks will be around to offer guidance.
The Bastrop County Audubon Society will provide an experienced birder to lead each circle. This is a come-and-go event so come whenever you like, and the location changes each month – just check the events page on Facebook.

Please bring whatever you need to be comfortable, whether it be a blanket or chair, binoculars or scope, field guide, water, snacks, etc. You also don’t have to bring anything to participate. Your eyes and ears are enough. Many birders stand at the “sits” and many folks bird by ear and with their naked eyes.
