The Hogeye Festival features a BBQ cook off, handmade arts and crafts, car show, live music, kids area, concessions, carnival, talent show, dessert contest, dart contest, pig puns and fun for the whole family!
Opening Gala Events:
Hogeye Stroll: Thursday, October 25, Hogeye Stroll from 5 to 9 with the Hogalicious Dessert Contest, the Pearls Before Swine Art Show, Kendra Scott pop up, store specials, refreshments and live music. The Pearls Before Swine Art Show features artists from Central Texas in all mediums. The opening gala is Thursday evening and attendees share their votes to select The Hogeye Pearl or People’s Choice winner for the show. The show will be at 32 North Main Street through Saturday, October 27. Look for the Kendra Scott Pop Up at 101 North Main Street from 6 pm to 8 pm – featuring all the latest fall styles and a special section of all things pink for Hogeye weekend! The Hogalicious Dessert Contest will be at 313 North Main Street with categories in pies and cakes for youth, adults and commercial bakers – this is an evening of creativity displayed through sugar, eggs, butter, and milk. You’ll be amazed at the beauty of the entries and you can enjoy samples after the judging at approximately 8 pm. Downtown business will be open from 5 pm to 9 pm with refreshments, store specials, tastings, live music and more. Enjoy an evening of fun, look for the Sowpremes and kick off Hogeye Festival weekend in style!
Friday Night Street Dance: Kenny Orts and No Chance will play from 8 pm to midnight on Friday, October 26 on Depot Street. The carnival will be open and vendors at the dance will include Daniel’s Bugers, Pecos Pete’s Natural Tea and Sodas, and the VFW Post 6115 with a variety of beer, soda, and water. You can dance the night away with Kenny who started playing when he was 13 with The Westernaires. Performing has been part of his life ever since and while he’s always had a day job – he says the memories he’s made with music are worth more than any monetary compensation. Come to see how his music is helping to keep the Texas Dance Halls alive while you enjoy scootin’ your boots under the stars in downtown Elgin. You can enjoy catching up with friends and making plans for the Hogeye Festival the next day while the band plays steel guitar, mandolin, electric guitar, fiddle, drums, bass guitar and a variety of vocals. The Friday night Street dance is free and the carnival will be open. Bring a chair and plan to spend the evening in beautiful downtown Elgin!
