Save the date and plan to enjoy a weekend meeting artists and learning about their creative process, techniques and the inspiration for their works. The Elgin Art Studio Tour, which features over 50 Central Texas artists in a dozen locations, opens three local studios that are not open to the public on a regular basis and partners them with the Clever Tiger Art Studio and Gallery and downtown businesses to showcase artists from throughout Central Texas. The weekend is filled with artist demonstrations, live music, hands on activities, and film screenings in historic downtown Elgin.

Featured studios include Studio 621, Earthen Metals, The Open Room, The Clever Tiger, and Elgin Body & Shine. Art mediums include jewelry, ornamental metal smithing, water colors, glass, blacksmithing, geologic creations, photography, paper and fiber arts, ceramic tiles, sculpture, film, woodworking, clay, screenprinting, and more.

• Studio 621 features fine jewelry by Barry Perez, glass and clay artists, photography by Janice Montalvo, and handmade paper jewelry by Sonya Randon Rangel.
• Earthen Metals will provide blacksmithing demonstrations throughout the day.
• The Open Room will screen a series of documentary films on artists and their art from Bernstein’s American Masters collection.
• The Clever Tiger will showcase live painting by Hunter Saltzgiver and Ashley Smith, artwork by anonymous street artist “Sleep” demos by a local contortionist and more!
• Elgin Body and Shine will host a public art program showcasing work created with Elgin in mind by sculpture students at The University of Texas at Austin.

Look for Daniels Burgers on Saturday, live music throughout the weekend and plan to enjoy some delicious food and drink including craft beers and wines from local restaurants.  Sunday includes an ice cream stroll to sweeten up the tour!

The studio tour is free and fun for the whole family. Sponsored by the Elgin Main Street Board and Elgin Chamber of Commerce. Elgin is located 19 miles east of Austin on Hwy 290.
