Explore the basics of fishing through 5 hands-on stations led by TPWD certified Angler Instructors.  Stations include knot tying, casting, safety, fish ID/ecology, and basic tackle.  After visiting the stations, the Bastrop Bulls-eyes 4-H Club will be giving out youth fishing combo kits with a rod and reel while supplies last!  Everyone is welcome to fish from the bank. Tackle will be available to borrow through our free Tackle Loaner Program on a first come first served basis.  We’ll even supply the bait! No fishing license required.  Event is free but Park entrance fees apply.  Adults must accompany children.  Bring sun protection, close-toed shoes, hats, snacks, and bottled water.
Due to limited parking, participants will be directed to a designated parking area.
Bathrooms are not available at the fishing area but will be available at the camping areas.  Plan to stop at the Oak Haven, Cozy Circle, Playground, or Lake View bathrooms.  The closest bathroom to the fishing area will be Oak Haven.
