Urban Survival & Disaster Preparedness – January 2022
January 7
January 7, 2023 - January 8, 2023
12:00am - 11:59pm
Earth Native Wilderness is hosting a two-day survival and disaster preparedness class at their Cedar Creek, Texas location in January. What would you do if you lost access to public utilities, grocery stores, fuel for your vehicle, or the ability to communicate using cell phones, computers, or even radio? While this might seem like a remote possibility in our daily lives, weather events and natural disasters occur every year in the U.S. that compromise the energy, food, water, and communication systems we depend on daily. Are you and your family prepared for a natural disaster or widespread emergency?
In this practical course, Earth Native Wilderness will review hazards, strategies, skills, and preparedness plan development to make sure you and your loved ones are equipped to respond to a natural disaster or major community emergency. Topics to be covered include:
- Hazards identification
- Overcoming the mental stresses in a disaster
- Developing a personal and family emergency response plan
- Critical emergency gear selection, storage, and proper use
- Communication Systems
- Basic lifesaving medical skills and recommendations for more advanced trainings
- Safety and protection
- Lifesaving survival skills – shelter, water, food, and fire
- Self care and stress management strategies
Join them to develop strategies, skills, and a plan that will prepare you and your family to respond quickly and decisively to a natural disaster or major emergency. This class for adults is open to age 12 and up, but those under age 15 must be accompanied by an adult.
Camping is available. Showers and bathrooms on site.
