The Colorado River is 862 miles long; the longest river with beginning and end both in Texas. A portion of the Lower Colorado River meanders through the center of Bastrop County and the towns of Bastrop and Smithville. Surrounded by trees, the slow-moving river is great for kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding, fishing and swimming. Richards Riverbend Park in Smithville.
Two paddling trails are on this portion of the river.
