Fitties BBQ was started by J.O. Gratten back on Sept. 1, 1997. Along with his knowledge of the food industry, James brought his experience of barbecue since early childhood. Often people have heard him speak proudly, with a big ol’ Kool-aid smile, of the fact that he put his first brisket on the pit and smoked it when he was eight years old. His brother Gary, a very experienced Pit Master, joined him in 2006. Since the opening of Fitties, Bastrop has enjoyed what some consider the best barbecue in Texas. The food and hospitality is something you must come to experience!
Fitties BBQ has the traditional brisket, pork ribs, sausage, chicken, beans, potato salad, and all of the other fixins’, so plan to go there with an appetite!
