Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and Audubon Texas has designated the City of Bastrop as one of four Bird City Texas certified communities in the state through 2022. The other three are Dallas, Houston and Port Aransas to receive this inaugural designation.

Bastrop is in great company for good reasons. Not only is Bastrop and surrounding area a great place for birding – see our Top 10 Public Birding Hot Spots – members of the 10-organization Bird City Bastrop Coalition created and run the various programs. The plans for the next three years are included in their 71-page application, a culmination of over a year’s work.

With educational programs, builder guides in Bastrop, birding activities and more, the coalition will continue to work towards making Bastrop the best Bird City Texas possible. Visitors and residents alike can benefit from the additional birding information available.
