Art Immersion: 800 Years of Japanese Tradition: Shibori

Dive into the world of Shibori fabric dyeing, at Mary Nichols Art Center in Smithville, Texas, with guest Instructor, Lynne Brotman. Class will be held outdoors under shade, so dress to stay cool, and wear clothing you can possibly stain. Gloves, aprons, cooling towels and water will be provided. Ages 18+ are welcome. Students will learn the following 3 techniques – Karamatsu, Arashi and Itajime – creating three scarves to take home.

Lynne is the executive director of the Austin School of Fiber Arts, and has a long history in teaching, creating and exhibiting finer art. She is bringing her wealth of knowledge to Bastrop for our Art Immersion event.
