June 18

June 18, 2022 @ 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm

12:00pm - 4:00pm

Join “A Bigger Taste of History” 2nd annual Juneteenth Celebration at the historic Hopewell Rosenwald School located in Cedar Creek, Texas, just west of Bastrop. The event will include an open house/tour of the National Historic Landmark school, a sampling of foods historically enjoyed on this date, like barbecue and potato salad among other refreshments, games for the entire family, learn about resources and organizations making a difference in the community, and hear former students from throughout the county sharing their oral history.

If you attended school in Bastrop County in the 1930s through the 1960s, you are welcomed and encouraged to share your stories.

With a grant from the National Parks Service, the Hopewell Rosenwald School of Cedar Creek has been restored and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in July 2015.

Parking and shuttle service available at Bastrop ISD Memorial Stadium
